RIGHT NOW!!!

You are alive Now! Happy & healthy…let’s celebrate this!!!
The only moment you can live upon!!! Time which has gone by is history; can't do anything about it now (apart from having some learning from that). Time which will come; is a future. Today, you honestly have no control over future. What so ever you do.
So best thing which you have it is "RIGHT NOW".
This very moment is only yours and you have full control on it. Completely under your control.
Live it & Stay happy…
Now this very moment of the life will have lot of influence from various situations, attitude, knowledge, skill set, current state of mind, intentions and so on. Having so beautiful phenomenon of the life we have in our DNA; why we are not happy???
I was shocked to see world happiness report; published by UN. Where our pride nation India is much below in UN's world happiness report 2018. We are not even in top 100. We are standing on 133 in the list of 156. Apart from leaving Afghanistan where situations are already bad; we are even behind from all the SAARC countries. Our less developed neighbours like Pakistan, Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh and sri-lanka are much happier than us.
These parameters were based on....
Per capita income, Social support, Healthy life expectancy, Social freedom, Generosity
Absence of corruption
And we are collectively as a nation legging behind in social support, generosity and socio-economy equality.
Are we seriously so unhappy???
By the way let's see!!! What is the happiness actually means to us?

According to the well known phycologist... happiness means different thing for different people or age group of people.
Are we bothered about break-up or we got failed in exams??? This may be worrisome for kids and teenagers.
Elder's find happiness in joint families or in travelling to religious places!
Youngsters find that in technology or may be traveling around!
Or I may find my happiness working late night just to accomplish my task before deadline!

But these are all external factors. So maybe we are not externally but internally happy...
Let's keep this UN report on a side for some time.
But another shock!!!

WHO report says that we are the most depressed nation in the followed by China and USA.
According to another report in last 10 years, the rate of anxiety and depression among corporate employees has increased by 45-50%. It is so much so that 42.5% of corporate employees in India suffer from depression. Means almost 1 out 2 employees are dealing with anxiety and depression.
What is wrong with it????
Is that saying of "3idiots" life is a race and if you’re not best someone will thresh you and will move over you!!! So, to be a winner we keep running in a rat-race for fame, money, recognition, social acceptance and what not! More we are running after these things; unhappier we are.
We have started running so much behind all these things; because, it becomes a habit to compare ourselves with others.
And this has given birth to a unique 21st century disease called "FOMO" or simply called as “FOL”.
It means the " feeling of anxiety or insecurity over the possibility of missing out on something as an event or an opportunity".
For example, fear of missing out to go for party, fear that you are missing out of the fun and everyone else out there will be freaking out and clicking selfie and updating on group of WhatsApp or social medias and you will miss all of that.
Here social media works like a catalyst to this psychic or like a fuel in this fire of FOMO.
It leads to a compulsive desire to stay connected with other people's lives online all the time.
We are addicted to Facebook, twitter, Instagram, etc on such a level; that what others are doing in their life, or how many people have liked our post; that becomes extremely important. Almost like an obsession.
According to researchers this addiction is as bad as an addiction of COCAINE or ALCOHOL.
I agree, that to be connected in this modern world; it is a very powerful tool.
Even I am sharing links of my post on blogs, LinkedIn or in Facebook.
But more than connecting it has become stalking tool.
Somehow everyone always looks happy on these social media sites, right??
The thing is that social media posts do not give a full and accurate picture of people's lives. It is usually about all their good times and high points.
It differentiates the Real-time person and the person on social media.
And because of that we always feel like that the other people have everything better than us.
So, we all get into this rat-race to reach where we think others are.
Accumulating things that we don't need and doing things we don't actually want to do.
Look around you; you will find this disease in a lot of people.
Who knows, even you might be suffering from it and you don't even have an idea.
This leads to the extreme dissatisfaction and has a detrimental effect on our physical and mental health...
Mood swings, Loneliness, Feelings of inferiority, Reduced self-esteem, Extreme social anxiety
And increased levels not negativity and depression.
Because of this FOMO, there is always so much to do and time always seem to be running out.
The thing is that we are all going too fast " Life has become Race". specially with others.
But that's not the truth, we all are different from each other; and our stories are also bound to be different from others for sure, right!!!!
Then how can we all be a part of the same race?
You can consider it is a race with yourself if you want to; outdoing yourself every time! But when the race is yours, then
why to be panic?
Go on your speed. You will be the only winner.
So, let's take a pause! Slowdown a bit! Take a moment and ask ourselves...
If we are happy where we are?
If what we are doing is makes is happy?
What is that which makes us happy!! Let's work on it...by uncluttering out lives and getting rid of distractions.
On an average, people are less happy when their minds are wandering. When you are in the moment, you are happier. So, let's work on our present and not dwell in on the past or worry about the future.
Gandhi ji said once; "happiness is when what you think, what you say and what you do are in harmony"
It is possible to redirect your attention, notice where your attention is; and if your mind gets distracted, especially where you know that is not really productive or useful or adding to your experience, then just get your attention back to what you were doing.
You got to do that repeatedly; until it becomes a habit and your mind no more wanders.
Lesser dependency on social media will definitely help. But it will take lot of discipline. I am also struggling some time by myself.
We can also attempt or better understand the lives of those who are less privileged than us and don't forget to be grateful for all that is good and meaningful in our lives.
Live Right now...

    1. Nice anmol..but a bit repetitive. I am aware this is also an ailment of the modern lifestyle (short fast feeds) but you make the point over n over . Nonetheless clear, lucid and most importantly, relevant

  2. Agree. Addiction to fb ,whatsapp, Twitter are deadlier than Cocaine. Add the desire to grab everything before it's "too late" is destroying relationships. Loneliness, inferiority complex, Reduced self-esteem, social anxiety are just few after effects.

  5. Totally agree..i feel social system needs to be changed ...Nowadays we see many people feel lonely or they are looking for proper guidance to overcome from their queries (not related to monetary thing) ..Still many people amongst us are not getting solution of their queries on time ...I think this leads to loneliness and insecurity ...
I think the best solution for this is to be always be in touch with your friends and family members

    1. Yes that's the key. Your touch base with the family and friends should be real; not virtual. Meet them and spend time with them; you will find it different.

  6. Well said Bhaiya and fully agree. I am also worried that the younger generation have been put into these much earlier in life. And are under peer pressure of not been left out. Spending quality time together is talk of past. Capturing each moment is the most important.

  9. Truly quoted. Social media is both a boon and curse. It is we who should decide where to find real happiness, whether in publicising our feelings or spending time with our near n dear ones !
